This particular instrument can be used to insert, remove and reshape wires and pins as they are needed. Many different neurosurgical and orthopedic procedures require the insertion of wire to give the areas additional stability and this cutter can be used to clip these at the desired length. Not only can this instrument be used to trim wire but also surgical pins. Fracture repair and other bone repair surgeries has to be set with pins that also need to be trimmed using this instrument. This instrument is available in two designs: stainless steal or tungsten carbide both of which can cup up to a diameter of 2.0 mm.

Additionally this end cutter is double-action and features tungsten carbide jaws with a maximum capacity of 3/32".

In procedures such as laminectomies or total hip replacements insertion of a wire is necessary to confer some stability to the newly operated upon region. Not only does this give stability but speeds up the healing time and prevents trauma to the area during the healing process. This particular cutter is a front and side cutter and features double action tungsten carbide jaws that has a maximum capacity of 1.7 mm.
