Knives
Gill Corneal Knife
3.0 mm wide, 5-1/4" (13.5 cm) Gill Corneal Knife is a commonly used blade in corneal surgeries. The blade may be used to scrape the anterior corneal surface to remove the epithelium, frequently done following a corneal lesion. With proper surgical technique, the knife may also be used to dissect the deeper layers of the cornea as needed. Both straight and curved models are available depending on surgical preference.
Kelman Cystotome Knife Cannula
sharp edge, 22 gauge shaft, 1.3" (3.2 cm) Kelman Cystotome Knife is a useful tool in cataract procedures. The knife features a curved blade with a sharp tip used to perforate the anterior lens capsule. From this point, an anterior capsulotomy can be performed. The knife also features an additional cannula feature to grasp the capsular fragments.
Paufique Graft Knife
1.6 mm x 1.75 mm angled blade Paufique Graft Knife is a commonly used tool in keratoplasty operations. The knife features a sharp rounded blade and is used to dissect the deep stromal tissue of the cornea parallel to Descemet's membrane. After this incision, the anterior lamellar kertoplasty may proceed.
Tooke Corneal Knife
smooth, 3.0 mm x 19.0 mm blade, 4-3/4" (12.0 cm) Tooke Corneal Knife is a commonly used blade in corneal surgeries. The knife features semicircular cutting edges with a flat blade. Commonly, the knife is employed to expose the limbus during cataract procedures or separate sclera lamellae. The knife also features an extended handle for ease of use.
Von Graefe Cataract Knife
1.5 x 25.0 mm blade, flat handle Von Graefe Cataract Knife is a commonly used tool in cataract surgeries. The blade is generally used in intracapsular cataract procedures to create a sclerocorneal section. It is also used to create sections for iridectomy procedures. The knife features a thin straight blade and a sharp cutting edge.
Wheeler Discission Knife
1 mm x 18 mm blade, 4-5/8" (11.7 cm) Wheeler Discission Knife is a commonly used instrument in cataract procedures. The knife is commonly used in the discission technique, in which a knife is used to open the lens capsule to expose the contents. The knife features a thin sharp blade for quick precision cuts without ruffling of the capsular tissue.
Ziegler Iris Knife
Ziegler Iris Knife is a multipurpose tool used in ophthalmologic procedures involving the iris and lens. Primarily, the knife is used to create an incision in the iris after a cataract procedure if necessary. It can also be used to perform a capsulotomy. Three different blade sizes are available with the knife depending on surgical preference.
